Sector:
- Sector portion of a circle resembling a 'slice of pizza'.
- Sector is the portion (or part) of the circular region enclosed by two radii and the corresponding arc is called a sector of the circle.
Area of the sector of Circle = θ/360o× Ï€r2
Example:
The radius of a circle is 5 cm. Find the area of a sector of a circle with central angle 40 degree.
Solution:
Radius of a circle is 5 cm
Central angle is 40 degree.
We have to find the area of sector of a circle.
Area of the sector of angle = θ/360o × Ï€r2
= 40/360o × 3.14 × 52
= 8.73 cm2
Therefore, area of the sector is 8.73 cm2.
